The world has lost one half of one of the most prolific songwriting duos in history. The Sherman Brothers – Robert B. and Richard M. – wrote many of the songs you can’t get out of your head after watching a movie, or visiting a theme park. Their most notorious is “It’s a Small World,” which anyone who’s been on Disney ride can agree is one culprit that just won’t quit. They also produced hits from Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Jungle Book and many more classics.
I never met Robert B. Sherman, but I was honored to speak with his brother and other family members, at the premiere of the movie about them – “the boys – the sherman brothers’ story.”
